ABOUT IXONIA LNG PROPOSAL

WE Energies is attempting to place a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) storage facility on approximately 120 acres in Ixonia at the intersection of Hill Road and North Road.  LNG is natural gas that has been cooled to a liquid state, about -260° F.  The purpose for this facility would be to take natural gas from the pipeline that runs through Ixonia, liquefy it, and store it until it's needed when demands are high in the winter.  The LNG would then be regasified and burned when needed.  The Ixonia facility would service Milwaukee WE Energies customers, and (per WE Energies) save them money on their utility bill.  If the facility is built, shared revenue payments would be distributed yearly to the town of Ixonia in the amount of $550,000 and Jefferson County in the amount of $1.1 million.  You can review all of the documents for the proposed LNG plant here.
